Guide for charge point operators (CPOs) who want to provide on-site card payments on EV chargers with CCV payment terminals, integrated in Tridens EV Charge by OCPI.

We successfully partnered with CCV, Europe’s leading payment provider and part of Fiserv. Together, we bring tap-and-go card payments directly to EV chargers — no apps, no accounts, no hassle for drivers.

Quick Overview

The CCV’s payment terminals communicate with the CCV’s back-office platform, and the CCV platform communicates with Tridens EV Charge via OCPI. OCPI serves for interoperable sync communication between CCV (and its terminal) and Tridens to exchange data about locations, chargers, prices, and sessions.

Before You Start

You need:

  • Active Tridens EV Charge environment with chargers onboarded
  • CCV device (e.g., IM30) physically installed and powered
  • Registration token from CCV
  • Pricing for sessions, set in Roaming Tariffs

How Payment Terminal Works with Tridens

Tridens EV Charge exposes the operator’s charging infrastructure via OCPI, so the CCV platform (and terminal) can reference chargers, control sessions, and receive cost information.

CCV reads payment cards on-site and communicates with the CCV platform to authorize money resources based on the tariff configuration. Once authorized, the CCV requests that the charging session start on Tridens via OCPI.

Configuring CCV with Tridens EV Charge

Step 1: Create a Roaming Profile for OCPI.
Step 2: Add a PTP Roaming Platform for CCV.
Step 3: Registration. CCV usually sends the registration token, so use the provided token to register.
Step 4: Expose your charging infrastructure to the payment terminal provider. Assign unique roaming IDs on desired Area, Charger and Connectors. Connectors in payment roaming need to have the ‘physical_reference’ custom attribute set.
Step 5: Assign Roaming Tariffs on the Site/Operator context and also to the Roaming Platform of CCV. It is important to set the tariff’s maximum amount limit, which is then used by CCV to authorize the money amount of the payment card customer. Charging cost expenses can be configured for energy, charging time, parking time, and a flat fee.
Step 6: Fetch Terminals from CCV to Tridens on the Roaming Platform. Activate the CCV terminal if required and then assign it to the desired Area and/or Connector.
Step 7: Configure the charger’s session behavior for a good experience.

Test The Full Flow

  1. Start a session at the charger by presenting the payment card at the CCV terminal.
  2. Verify live meter updates and status transitions in Tridens sessions.
  3. Stop the session at the terminal by presenting the payment card again, and confirm that the rating is based on your desired roaming tariffs.
  4. The payment terminal shows the QR code on the receipt. Check out the desired cost info.
