Bookings Overview

To access this section in EV Charge, from the Menu, click Bookings. A list of connector bookings is shown in a tabular format.

Bookings are used to reserve a connector for a specific customer in advance. The connector is not reserved locally on the charging station. EV Charge manages the booking centrally and restricts session starts on the booked connector while the booking is active, unless the configured booking grace period has expired.

Each booking is connected to:

• a customer
• a charger
• a connector
• a start time and stop time
• optional authorization type and authorization token
• optional external reference, notes, and custom attributes

Booking List

The booking list shows scheduled, active, completed, and canceled bookings. You can use the list to search for bookings, review booking status, open booking details, or cancel bookings that are still active.

To generate the booking list in a spreadsheet, use the table export action. Exported data is generated for the currently available table data.

Booking Calendar

Click Calendar view to review bookings on a timeline. The calendar view is useful when you need to check connector availability or identify scheduled bookings visually.

The calendar groups bookings by charger and connector. The time range shows the booking window, while the color represents the calculated booking status. See Booking Status.

Creating a Booking

Click + Booking to create a booking.

To create a booking:

1. Select the Customer.
2. Select the Charger.
3. Select the Connector.
4. Set the Start time (inclusive) and Stop time (exclusive).
5. Optionally select the Authorization Type and Authorization Token. When selected, the initiation of the charging session is allowed only if the matching authorization type and token are used.
6. Optionally add External ref., Notes, and custom attributes. External ref. stores an external system reference for the booking, for example an identifier from an integrated booking or customer-support system.
7. Click Submit.

Booking Details

Open the booking details from the booking list or calendar to review the booking data. Details show the customer, charging infrastructure, booking time, optional authorization data, and related session information.

If the booked customer starts charging during the booking window, the related session is linked to the booking. You can open the linked session from the booking details.

Bookings that are not terminal can be updated or canceled. Canceled bookings remain visible for historical review.

Booking Status

Booking status is calculated from the booking time window and related charging session.

Starting Sessions with Bookings

When a session start request is received for a connector, EV Charge checks whether an active booking exists for that connector at the current time.

If no active booking exists, the session start request continues normally.

If an active booking exists, EV Charge compares the booking customer with the session customer. The booked customer can start the session. If the booking also has an authorization type or authorization token, the session must match those values as well.

If another customer tries to start the session while the booking is active, EV Charge rejects the session start request until the booking grace period expires.

The Booking grace period is configured in the Session Rating Settings. It defines how many seconds after the booking start time EV Charge keeps the connector reserved exclusively for the booked customer. When the grace period expires and the booked customer has not started charging, another customer can start a session on the connector.

Limitations

• A booking applies to one connector.
• Bookings cannot overlap on the same connector.
• Canceled and completed bookings cannot be edited.
• Session start protection applies, restricting customers from charging.
• Optional authorization type and authorization token further restrict who can use the booking.
• Booking restrictions are enforced when EV Charge centrally authorizes session start requests. Authorization lists and local authorization caches on charging stations must be disabled.
